A Breathtaking Maine Artisan

My boyfriend, Rob and his awesome family have a small, quaint vacation home in Searsmont, Maine. I've had the pleasure of visiting several times and it has always been such a great escape from the everyday mundane work routine and obstacles. There's a ton of room to breathe, take in some exquisite views, and the art scene is always booming. So ( I am going somehwere here - lol) on the subject of beautiful Maine, art and inspiration, check out this breathtaking NorEaster necklace I came across from Maine local, RoughMagicCreations...

She incorporates Hand-carved hardwoods,copper,gemstones, crystals,freshwater pearls,shells, beach stones, AND sterling silver in her work. Her husband and best friend, Joe, also has a BIG hand helping make these great creations!

As a HUGE fan of anything nautical and whimsical, I had to share this inspiring artist, who is also a proud member of EPE.

I'm totally digging on this knit wrist cuff I came across on etsy, in barefootweaver's shop. 

Cait Throop, shop owner,  Artist and Mastermind behind these Wintery and hip accessories, is also a proud member of EPE - Etsy Project Embrace, which helps to raise cancer awareness and money for the American Cancer Society! She even weaves her own knits, AND dyes her threads and fabric.

Etsy Project Embrace (EPE)

Etsy Project Embace is a Universal Coalition of Artists on a mission to create awareness and support for people diagnosed with cancer. It first originated to support artist, Laura Slocum, who was diagnosed with Stage-3 Ovaraian Cancer some time last June..

Laura has had to endure a painful road towards recovery, though her HUGE heart and most positive outlook on life, I believe, will conquer this disease. Laura writes in her blog, "I’m going to play the hand I’ve been dealt in the best and most positive way I know how. There will always be some people in this world who have it better and some who have it worse. That’s just life."

As an artist, Laura loves to dabble vast mediums, i.e., arches paper, watercolors, acrylics, glass pendants and magnets.  You can see her wonderful art pieces at her etsy shop: lauraslocumpainted where 20% of all profits will go to the American Cancer Society.
